We are all familiar with the push for carbon neutrality as well as the wider net zero greenhouse gas ambition. At Kul Jord we believe that striving for carbon neutrality is not enough. Together with you, we want to go further and be carbon negative - take more carbon from the atmosphere than we create.

So what are we doing and where are we on the journey?

For us this is a quest that will never end; continuously looking for ways to drive down the carbon we produce, and at the same time ensuring that as much as possible can be cycled back into high value material.

Planting Forests

For every product we sell, we plant more trees. Trees sequester CO2, removing it from the atmosphere. Our forestry partners create and regenerate forests with care so that our trees also deliver many additional benefits beyond carbon.

At the same time we recognise that trees come with downsides as a method of carbon sequestration. We see tree planting as just one part of our quest towards carbon negativity and it is the part we can start now. For us it doesn’t end there however. We will be investing in direct air carbon capture and we're backing the next generation of climate start-ups with the potential to deliver large-scale transformation tomorrow. We’re starting small but we have big plans.

Removing Carbon from the Atmosphere

Direct air carbon capture is a technology that removes carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. Air is drawn through specialised filters that capture CO₂, which is then permanently stored or repurposed. By removing existing emissions, it helps support a healthier, more balanced planet.

For every Kul Jord product sale we will also remove 1kg of carbon from the air through direct air capture. Furthermore, we are on the look out for opportunities to invest in novel new direct air capture and other technologies as innovation continues in this emerging area.

Rescuing Ocean Plastics

Removing plastic from our oceans helps protect marine life and restore delicate ecosystems. It also prevents plastics from breaking down into microplastics, which can enter the food chain. Every piece removed is a small but meaningful step towards healthier oceans.
